Down

So my number of posts are way down and there are a lot of thing to blame...I've got two weeks left of grad school and a bad of case of "I don't give a damn-itis"...summer has really hit Seattle recently and just being outside in the sun beats being a naked mole-rat typing away at the computer...I'm moving to Lawrence, Kansas in a month or so and the job hunt is in full swing and it's hard to justify pounding out my musing when I could/should be searching for a job...

While on one of my jaunts around Seattle, I stopped by Easy Street and took some snaps of the new-ish murals they have out front...

I've got to say I was surprised by the Black Tide mural. They are not exactly the typical Easy Street band but their new album is getting a lot of love from metal fans. Here's a sample:

Gone, Baby, Gone

I have been meaning to write this for a little bit now but I had more pressing things to write over the past few weeks.

No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood have been supplanted for my Best Picture of the Year by Gone Baby Gone...and I nearly fell off the couch when I remembered that it was directed by Ben Affleck. I had forgotten that completely and I don't really remember seeing him do much promotion for it on the talk shows...or maybe I just wasn't watching that night...

The movie is based on Dennis Lehane's novel [he also wrote Mystic River] so I knew going in it was going to be a solid story but Casey Affleck gives a great performance that I think should have been nominated for something...make up a category if you have to.

Tegan & Sara -- Live at Easy Street Records

Yesterday, Laura and I got out of work early and headed down to Easy St. for a free in-store with everyone's favorite Canadian twins, Tegan & Sara. Their new album, The Con, arrives next Tuesday and half the songs they played were from the new album. By the sound of it, things have progressed nicely for them since So Jealous in 2004.

The concert was packed as you might expect but surprisingly arriving at 4:00pm exactly found us already late with the duo on stage with their band. They were surprisingly talkative (well Sara was at least) and it was almost a comedy show between songs.

New Easy Street Murals

At my favorite record store in Seattle, Easy Street Records, they have four huge murals out front and when I went yesterday, three of them were new ones...and yes, it does look like Seattle's premiere music fest is now called "Bumbershit."
